On the western shorelines of Lake Washington just north of the University of Washington are several waterfront communities. The first one is Matthews Beach followed by, Riviera Place and Sheridan Beach. Waterfront homes in these areas have spectacular lake views as well as views of Mount Baker to the North, to the south Mount Rainier, directly east across the lake to the rugged wooded shoreline of Saint Andrews Park and Holmes Point.
The waterfront homes in Matthews Beach, Riviera Place and Sheridan Beach are separated by the Burke Gilman trail that runs from Gas Works Park in Seattle to Redmond’s Marymoor Park. The Burke Gilman Trail was formerly a rail road line converted into a public trail in 1978. The trail is used by commuters, cyclist, rollerbladers, joggers and walkers.
