Early spring in northeast Seattle is a perfect time to start to plan and prepare for your flower and vegetable gardens. A simple alternative to traditional gardening is to build a raised garden bed. You don’t need much land a few materials and a few hours to complete this simple project.
Raised beds are extemely popular in Seattle and can be built from just about anything, stones, concrete blocks and wood. Just to remember to have at least of 6” to plant your flowers or vegetables and don’t use treaded wood if you’re planting vegetables.
Raised gardens beds are a great way to enjoy fresh vegetables and flowers through the beatiful August and September late summer days in Seattle without a using a large space and spending too much time.
Following is a video created by Lowes explaining how to build a raised garden bed. Enjoy!
